Edmundston (N.B.), Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - The Congrès mondial acadien (CMA) 2014 will welcome the Acadia of the world with the Mouvement Desjardins by its side. Mr. Léo Paul Charest, Executive Director of the CMA 2014 and Mr. Michel Roussy, Regional Vice-President Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, of the Mouvement Desjardins, have officialised, today, their partnership which will contribute to the success of this major gathering.

The Mouvement Desjardins therefore becomes a Gold Partner of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014 by its major financial contribution of $ 150,000. The CMA 2014’s Executive Director is pleased by the realisation of this partnership: « The concretisation of partnerships such as the one with the Mouvement Desjardins is crucial to the organization of a Congress like ours. The CMA 2014 must be representative of all Acadians and their friends. Our joint efforts will certainly contribute to revive the Acadian pride and the vitality of communities scattered throughout the Acadia of Lands and Forests region. »

As for Mr. Michel Roussy, Regional Vice-President Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, he declared himself very happy of the association with the Congrès mondial acadien’s team. « I am very proud of the contribution made by each of the entities of the Mouvement Desjardins that have injected important sums of money in support of this major international event, and in particular, by the Caisse de Cabano, Caisse des Trois-Lacs, Caisse du Portage and Caisse de la Vallée des Lacs. The Congrès mondial acadien 2014 will have an economic impact of around 55 million dollars in Acadia of Lands and Forests. The 2014 event opens Acadia to the world and the world to Acadia. The CMA 2014 is particularly proud of the support of the Mouvement Desjardins and of its present and future partners.

In re… The World Acadian Congress is a gathering held every five years and it unites the Acadian diaspora from all over the world.  Many activities are planned over a two week period, i.e. from August 8^th to the 24^th, 2014.  The event draws on the community’s commitment and promotes the Acadian culture, heritage and amenities.
