50 years + Summit
Recognizing the demographic transformation in Acadia of Lands and Forests and elsewhere in the world and the strong cultural differences regarding the role of seniors across the world, the Congrès mondial acadien 2014 could not happen without providing a prominent place to the men and women that are 50 years of age and older.
Similar to the Great Youth Rally and the Women’s Summit, the 50 Years Plus Summit will bring together a large number of participants that are 50 years of age and older for a series of discussions on issues that concern them. The event will take place August 19th and 20th 2014, and will be organized in close collaboration with groups of people 50 years and over from Témiscouata and Aroostook County in Maine.
The following objectives will be on the agenda of the Summit:
- Promote greater public exposure for seniors;
- Promote a positive image of our aging population and their contribution;
- Identify issues associated with aging of the population;
- Provide positive solutions and practical tools to face the challenges of aging.
The CMA 2014 has recently signed a partnership agreement with the “Association francophone des aînés du Nouveau-Brunswick” to organize the first ever 50 Years Plus Summit.
