Everywhere women decide ... women act!

The 5th Women Summit in Acadia will be held in Edmundston , New Brunswick, August 17 to 19, 2014 . Organized with the collaboration of Feminist Coalition of New Brunswick and the Congrès mondial acadien 2014, the Women's Summit is a unifying international event organized by and for women to discuss questions and issues that concern them. Under the theme “Everywhere, women decide, women act!” It will allow more than 200 women to exchange, to consult, to celebrate and act!

The Women's Summit will begin on August 17 in the evening with a conference of great importance where our special guests , Lyse Doucet, Alexa Conradi and Aldea Landry will discuss on the subject of the representation and participation of women in decision -making. We expect more than 200 people at the conference, which is open to the general public.

In a lively and energizing environment, long discussions, workshops, roundtables, conferences, talking circles and World Café will be offered during the 18th and the morning of August 19. Cultural aspects and social media will also be part of the activities. The Summit will be punctuated with interactive plenaries which will enable participants to decide and act together. To close the event, participants will be invited to participate in a march to the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation, a community where the band council is composed entirely of women. A slight taste of Maliseet traditional food will be served at the arrival of participants.

Participants will have the opportunity to create a Declaration of Women Summit in order to spread their vision of a new Acadia where” Everywhere women decide ... women act!”
